    Amazing box, only 1 downside.

Easy and straight forward to build using instructions, also very high quality. Only bad thing is the box terminal only supports 1 channel so you would have to either run 1 amplifier or invert subs unless you put another terminal on the other side.

All cuts were perfect and square to my surprise it was plywood I thought I was getting MDF plywood is much better used gorilla glue ultimate inch and a quarter coarse thread screws bored out all holes with quarter inch bit to flush mount the screws putting it together was simple and easy applied extra glue on all seams and corners used Bondo to fill in the screw holes sand it off the Bondo painted it inside and out with acrylic latex and hand blowing holographic glitter onto the wet paint will paint the down for sound logo red white and blue mounted for DC audio m38s inverted really emphasize the lows pretty incredible actually but not as musical as I wanted to my taste because I listen to a lot of reggae rock and rap a mixture so I turn the subs mounted them inside the box the Lowe's are still incredible but all the other bass tones were much more emphasized very musical loud clear and pounds great no matter what kind of music I'm listening to sounds awesome of course I sanded all the edges on the outside of the box and the port to roll them over before I paint it very minimal sanding to the box everything lined up very very nice was able to build it in one night and paint it the next day by the end of the day was jamming if you have some skills and carpentry this is the way to go and you can customize it what kind of paint scheme you want glitter etc or bed liner very strong material excellent sound five stars

    Quad 8 flat pack

Arrived fast with no damage. It is packed very, very well considering most just throw it in a box and ship it. Holes are prefilled on faces but not on the end of the boards. My only complaint since the front panels will split if you don't predrill them yourself, ask me how I know. Once you take the extra steps to do that it gues together seamlessly. Originally I wasn't fond of only having 2 to 3 screw on per panel but once you add the glue, yes YOU MUST GLUE IT!, it's very sturdy. You can chose to display or flip the team d4s panel depending on how much you like it. Pics are still in raw form with no subs installed because I'm going to use raptor liner on it . Remember you chose to get a quality box from a quality company tuned to the right frequency Don't start skimping on your assembly making it airtight or your wiring. That's 30 years of experience just telling you if you took the time to make it this far don't start skimping now. Box is what looks like luan or cheap Birch, not mdf so that was a plus. They include a SMD style terminal cup too for good measure which has a gasket included. I can see why these things are constantly out of stock because once you factor in the cost of lumber the tooling to cut it the time you take to make sure your measurements and tuning are correct you have well exceeded the cost of this box so bang for the buck you cannot beat it. Once I get the subs installed and throwing in my trunk will see how she sounds. I hope this answers a lot of different questions

Box is great only problem I had was having to open the holes for subs because they were to small even after asking if the subs would work in the box

A great DIY sub box kit. All wood pieces intact. No damaged parts. All cuts are square, which makes assembly easier. And of course great service from D4S.

    Mixed Review

Posted by Joe K on Mar 11, 2022

To start off, I emailed asking about the actual size to this box (I have dimensions to stay within as space was limited), because the description doesn't match the measurements in the image. I was told the measurements in the description were the correct ones, They NOT the correct ones, the measurements are what is in the picture. 12"x32"x25" (which made it not fit the space I had, so have to use it for a different build.....) and the port is 4"x10.5"x32.5" comes to around 3.37ft^3 tuned to around 29hz that's without any sub displacements and roughly .05 for the 45s with 42in2 of port area, 12.46in2 per foot. (3.05ft^3 after .32 of woofer displacement "4 SA 8 V3s" which changes the tuning to 30.5hz and 3.05ft^3 Net Volume) The "3/4 mdf" is about 1/8th thinner than any of the MDF I have ever had at my local stores, which is no biggie just pointing it out. Now to the build part, when installing the ports you have a 4" wide port in the front but when you go to put the bend at the back of the port, it leaves 2.5" from the back wall, so your port is going from a 2.5" back gap to a 4" gap in-front, ports are supposed to be spaced evenly along its length. To fix this the longest part of the port walls has to be cut off by 1.5" and 2 new pieces have to get cut to 10.5"x7" for the bend to allow you to have 4" evenly across your port while keeping the same port length. There is some nice countersink holes where they did pre-drill some of the holes, I say some because there is some pre-drill holes that were either missed or they just don't do. So you will have to pre-drill a fair amount or risk splitting the mdf. It did come with a cup terminal which, I wasn't expecting and it was countersunk into the side wall, which was pretty nice, and it has a foam backing to seal. The wood was cut evenly and square, so everything lined up fairly good. The cut outs don't fit Sundowns SA V3 8" or E8 V6 8" subs without some minor sanding of the hole to get it to fit. Which is common with pre-fabs as one size doesn't fit all. In summary, the box isn't bad per-say for a quick toss together or for those who don't have tools or are attempting their first box build, it's better than most of the cheaper pre-fabs you see on the market, but it's not without issues as mentioned above. My own fault for being lazy and buying a pre-fab instead of building my own for half the cost like I usually do, spent more time figuring out its actual specs, tuning etc running it through WinISD and modifying it, than I would have just designing my own, cutting it and building it. I gave it 3 stars, because it would be functional as it was for most people I guess, but the dimensions being wrong even after contacting them about the size is a pretty big problem when someone has limited space, that's a make or break to an install right there.
